The Institute was created to carry out the fundamental and applied scientific studies on Applied Informatics and Mathematical Geophysics and to implement the results of the studies in the Kaliningrad area of the Russian Federation economy and social sphere in general.
Scientific research and innovation activity of the Institute are aligned with the priority areas and issues determined by the State programs, the University and the initiative areas of focus established by the Institute independently in the areas of Mathematical Geophysics; Distributed Computing and Supercomputer Technologies; Applied Cosmic Informational Technologies for Rational Management of Natural Resources; Applied Information Systems for Education, Healthcare and Management.
The core research direction of the Institute in 2012-2013 – «Information and Supercomputer Technologies in Inverse Problems of Rational Management of Natural Resources».
